Let’s chat about 5 habits you should be focusing on today to help impact your health and fitness. Because let’s face it, we are bombarded with conflicting and confusing health and fitness advice on a daily basis. For example:
“Low carb, high fat diets are the best for fat loss. High carb, low fat diets are the best for fat loss. Carbs are evil. Carbs are an important energy source. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Fruit has too much sugar, don’t eat fruit. Don’t eat meat. Meat is an important source of protein and nutrients. Intermittent fasting is important for fat loss. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eat lots of protein. Too much protein is bad for your kidneys. Energy balance is important, be aware of the calories you are consuming. Watching your calorie intake is obsessive and is disordered eating. Drink lots of water. Too much water is bad for you. Strength train, but don’t forget about cardio, and you have to do yoga. Start every day with meditation. Start everyday by completing your 3 most important tasks. Don’t be on any devices for the first few hours of your day. Don’t forget to sleep 8 or more hours per night.”
We’re constantly getting bombarded with fitness advice. The problem is, a lot of it is confusing, complicated and unsustainable.
And to make things even more challenging, many pieces of advice can contradict one another (as seen above).
So here are 5 habits you can start working on to make a big impact on your health:
1. Strength train 3-4x per week – strength training is the fountain of youth!
2. Walk/move more – in 2025, we sit more than ever through commuting to work, work itself, streaming shows, many convenience services, and so much more. So it’s important we get out and move!
3. Improve sleep quality and duration – sleep helps with focus, energy, recovery and repair, and so much more!
4. Increase our daily water, fruits, and vegetable intake – packed with so many essential nutrients, fibre, and make a great way to manage appetite and hydration!
5. Prioritize protein at every meal – to help you recover, maintain muscle mass as we age, and remain satiated between meals!
These 5 habits will effectively improve your health, energy, and mood. These 5 habits help simplify the things you should be focusing on and will give you a bigger ROI to your health than anything else. Although, implementing new habits isn’t always easy, so start small and work your way up.
These 5 habits don’t involve restriction, dieting, or insane fitness plans. Instead, they promote adding more goodness to your life – which sounds pretty cool to us!
Over the next few weeks, we’ll dive deeper into each habit and how we can utilize them to optimize our health.
